Ofsted Report

We are pleased to announce that in a recent Ofsted inspection we received 'outstanding for nursery education': "The quality of teaching and learning is outstanding. Children make outstanding progress in all areas of their learning and have excellent levels of achievement.

A particular strength of teaching is in relation to the opportunities that children have to be imaginative and creative when using the indoor and outdoor play areas…. Staff have a very calm, patient and caring approach towards the children. As a result, children are exceptionally well behaved and develop close and caring relationships with the staff.

All children are welcomed and play a full part in the nursery because staff value and respect their individuality….. Younger children benefit from having access to a very good range of resources and experiences and consequently they are happy, settled, and well occupied at all times." Catherine Greenwood Ofsted inspector 29/09/2006.

Due to these excellent results Abacus is now being used as an example for good practice for other settings in the Borough.
